Polaris Ranger DIY door modifications

My son-in-law has been my buddy in trail riding for years and now that my daughter is pregnant with their first child, John (son-in-law) and I came up with a very bright idea of installing front and rear doors with roll up windows and DIY child lock for our Rangers. Additionally, we also thought of making a way to keep the doors open just for added safety and cleaning convenience since we also have pets with fur floating around most of the time.

So here it goes. Bought some pneumatic cylinders attached to the ROPS using 1.75in shaft collars. To mount the cylinder ball studs to the doors, I removed the rubber seals and plastic trim on all four doors. I found a convenient 1x1inch square tube inside, which I plan to drill and tap. I spent the next few days working on these modifications. Theres still a lot to do, wish us luck! Will post an update asap.

That's such a cool and thoughtful build, love the family first approach with a touch of engineering. Just wondering tho, what stroke length and force rating did you go with for the pneumatic cylinders? Did you have to reinforce the mounting points on the doors or ROPS to handle the stress over time?

Love the initiative with the pneumatic cylinders and shaft collars, I did something similar a while back for my pups, though not as elaborate, and I can tell you right now that keeping the doors open for cleaning is a total game changer, although you could consider adding a quick release or latch override too if you haven't already, just for those moments when someone is juggling baby gear and needs to open a door fast.

When my niece was about to arrive, my brother and I put together a makeshift rear gate for his quad using a bungee cord and an old truck latch, it wasn't as polished as what you're working on, but it did the trick of keeping the dog in and the mud out. I really admire how you're combining safety, pets, and that DIY enthusiasm in your project. Keep it up! It seems like you're not just building a machine; you're creating some great memories too
