My 2004 Ranger 6x6 is a trusty beast. Over the last year, it began to unpredictably die when in full motion. Very rarely. I think it also choked down at high throttle. So I refreshed the carburetor with a jet and rubber kit (did not replace diaphragm, but it seemed in good shape), replaced spark plug and air filter (both looked fine).

Once back together it starts, idles and runs PERFECTLY up to about half throttle, guessing 2000-2500 rpm. But above that it seems to bog down, like it hits a governor. No backfiring or anything like that; just won't accelerate or take more throttle. Once RPM reduced, it runs perfectly again.

I think the carb is fine as I really didn't find anything wrong with it anyway.

I am wondering what electronic component could possibly be causing this high-throttle bogging? Any ideas?
