My buddy knows that I'm active in forums, he wants me to ask you all about this issue

He wants a lot more bottom end power and is thinking about installing a turbocharger on his Ranger XP 1000

What do you think guys, is it a good idea or a bad one?

I would suggest that your friend try a clutch kit or ecu tune, it's more reliable and still gets you that extra sound. Just because turbocharging can be a little bit risky without major supporting mods. Plus, the clutch or ecu is cheaper and safer.

@halffull1 already said it but hey, invite your friend to come join us here! The more the merrier, right?

Kind of a complex upgrade for sure, it requires supporting mods like stronger clutch components, upgraded cooling, and proper tuning to avoid engine damage. Its usually is not a simple bolt on and can affect reliability if not done right. Hope you guys are prepared to handle the extra maintenance and cost.

Your buddy is mostly after low end grunt? @CarDad2025 if that's the case I think a clutch kit or ECU flash makes more sense. Turbo is cool and all, but it is very high maintenance and a little hard to work on.
